How does ClearCar work?

ClearCar lets you buy,sell or finance a vehicle how you want, where you want and when you want. You can browse our inventory, book a test drive, and start the purchase or sale process online—we’ll even deliver the vehicle to your door! Or you can visit us in Langley, BC to browse, test drive and purchase in-person. Our ClearCar Consultant team are available to help you every step of the way.

Where does ClearCar get its vehicles?

Our inventory includes only vehicles that meet our high standards for quality and reliability. These include vehicles that we purchase from customers like you through our Sell Your Car program as well as vehicles from our partner OpenRoad Auto Group.

Where is ClearCar located?

ClearCar is headquartered in Langley, BC. You’re welcome to visit us in-person, or if you prefer, you can buy or sell a used car online—it’s up to you. We offer free delivery within Metro Vancouver

Who is the ‘ClearCar Consultant’?

Instead of passing along your inquiries or questions to a call centre, we pair you with a dedicated customer service representative: your ClearCar Consultant. If you have any questions at any point in your car buying journey, you can reach out to them directly. They’ll be available to help you each step of the way.

How is ClearCar different from a dealership?

At ClearCar, we make used cars clear and easy. We give you the flexibility to buy or sell a used car how you want, where you want and when you want—without high-pressure tactics, haggling or hassles. You can start your used car purchase online, with test drive and delivery to your door. And we pair you with a dedicated ClearCar Consultant who’s always by your side, ready to help.

Buying a Vehicle

How do I know ClearCar’s vehicles are trustworthy?

Every vehicle in our inventory undergoes an exhaustive 180-point inspection to ensure it meets our high standards for quality and safety. You can view the Carfax Canada report for every vehicle to get the facts on its history, including any previous accidents or damage.    

What if there’s an issue with my vehicle after I receive it?

What are the terms of ClearCar’s 8-day money-back guarantee?

We are so confident with our vehicles that all of our units include an 8-day, or 250-kilometre, money-back guarantee. The vehicle must be presented before maximum days or kilometres are reached, whichever comes first, and in the original condition as first sold to the buyer by ClearCar.

Can I see the vehicles in person?

Yes, you’re welcome to view and test drive any vehicle you like. Simply click the ‘Book a Test Drive’ button on the vehicle detail page, or contact us to arrange to view any of the vehicles in person. 

How do I arrange a 24-hour test drive?

Click the ‘Book a Test Drive’ button on the vehicle detail page and fill out the form with your info. One of our team members will get back to you promptly. You’re also welcome to reach out to your ClearCar Consultant—or contact us by phone or email—to arrange a test drive.

Note that there is a 100 km limit on 24-hour test drives, and ClearCar will not be responsible for any traffic violations and parking infractions incurred during the test drive period.

Delivery

How does delivery work when I buy a vehicle?

After you have purchased your ClearCar vehicle, you can either choose to pick up your vehicle in person at our ClearCar office in Langley, or we can bring your new car to you, at a mutually agreed upon location anywhere within Metro Vancouver.

Do I have to be home to accept the vehicle delivery?

In order to ensure the vehicle is delivered safely to its rightful owner, we require the purchaser to be present to inspect, accept, and sign for the vehicle. This can be done at your home, at your office, or any mutually agreed upon location within Metro Vancouver.

Will you bring the vehicle to me for a test drive?

Yes! Part of the ClearCar promise, is to make your purchase journey as simple as possible, and that includes making test drives easier and more enjoyable. A ClearCar Consultant will be more than happy to bring the test drive vehicle to you, as long as it’s at a mutually agreed upon location within the Metro Vancouver area. Contact us to arrange your test drive.

Are there any extra steps needed after delivery before I start driving?

Financing

Do I qualify for a vehicle loan?

There are a number of factors that determine loan approval, including credit score, employment status and residency. We’ll do everything we can to help you through the process and put your best foot forward to take home the vehicle that’s right for you. Contact us to start the credit pre-approved process to find out how much you are qualified for.

How long does it take to get approved?

On average, it will only take 1-2 business days to determine loan qualification. There may be times when more information is required, in which case, our team will reach out directly in a timely manner.

What will my interest rate be?

Interest rates fluctuate month to month, and can also vary depending on whether it is a fixed or variable rate, the lender, and also factors like your personal credit score.

Does it impact my credit score to submit a ‘credit application’ in the check-out process?

Whenever a credit application is submitted, you can expect a small credit score change by 2-5 points. This step is part of the normal loan application process, and is required by third-party lenders to determine your loan eligibility. Your credit score will only be requested one time when you submit an application through ClearCar, so rest assured your score will only change by the most minimal amount.

What if I don’t have 2 years of work history or residence history?

Our team has extensive experience working with clients with different credit scores and all sorts of credit situations, ranging from newcomers in the country, to international students. Talk to us and we will guide you through the loan approval process.

After-Sales Support & Warranty

Am I covered if there’s an issue with my vehicle?

Depending on the year of the vehicle purchased, the manufacturer warranty coverage may still be valid on your new ClearCar vehicle. Every ClearCar vehicle also comes with an 8-day or 250-km money-back guarantee. Talk to your ClearCar Consultant to find out the coverage on your vehicle.

What are my options for additional warranty coverage?

Our ClearCoverage plans give you extra peace of mind, with coverage for repairs, damaged tires, and lost keys or remotes. We also offer an extended vehicle return option that protects you in the event of a major life event, such as illness or job loss.

Vehicle Return Coverage
In the event of job loss, illness or other unexpected burdens, Vehicle Return Coverage lets you return your vehicle to us for full compensation. A basic level of Vehicle Return Coverage is included free with every vehicle purchase from ClearCar.

Repair Coverage
Our extended Repair Coverage options ensure you’re covered in the event of a breakdown, costly repair or mechanical issue, including costs of towing and car rental, if necessary.

Road Hazard Coverage
When road hazards like rocks, nail and broken glass damage your tires, our Road Hazard Coverage will repair or replace the damaged tires, including the costs of tire change and towing when required.

Key & Remote Coverage
When you lose your key or remote, our Key & Remote Coverage covers the costs of deprogramming the lost remote, purchasing a replacement and reprogramming the new one.

What is the warranty claims process?

Next steps in a claims process may be different, depending on whether it is covered under manufacturer warranty or extended warranty. Please reach out to your ClearCar Consultant, and we would be happy to provide guidance

Where should I take my vehicle for service?

When it’s time to get your car serviced or repaired, we recommend visiting the OpenRoad service location that’s right for your vehicle. As an OpenRoad Auto Group Partner, we stand by the quality of auto care and customer service that OpenRoad offers.

Do I receive perks if I take my car to an OpenRoad service location?

Selling or Trading Your Vehicle

Will ClearCar buy my vehicle?

Yes! ClearCar will buy any make and model at a competitive price. Visit our Sell a Car page to learn more.

Will ClearCar accept my vehicle as a trade-in?

You bet! Use the form on our Sell a Car page to tell us more about the vehicle you’re looking to trade, or select the trade-in option during checkout to start the process.

How do I get a price offer?

Simply fill out the form on our Sell a Car page to tell us more about the vehicle you’re looking to sell. One of our ClearCar team members will reach out promptly to provide a price offer and get the process started

How and when do I get paid?

Once you have accepted our offer to buy your vehicle, ClearCar will require proof of vehicle ownership to ensure the vehicle you are selling belongs to you. After verification of ownership, ClearCar will process your payment, and have a cheque ready for you within 3 business days. During that time, you can drop off your vehicle at our location in Langley, or we can arrange to pick it up from you.

Do I need to provide details on the mechanical or cosmetic status of my vehicle before selling or trading?

Knowing the complete details on your vehicle will allow us to offer you a more accurate appraisal and offer to buy, so we ask that you provide as much information as you can when filling out the form on our Sell a Car page.
